The First Day of School
Luke Hawes: Twas the night before Luanes first day of school and she and her mom had had a busy day. First was school shopping which took them an hour because they didn’t know what she needed. She and her mother had lived in busy San Francisco for her whole life so when her mom announced they were moving she new stuff was going to change. First, let's tell you how her mother broke the news to her. They were eating dinner in their beachfront condo when fer mom told her that she had something to tell her and that’s when her mother told her that they were moving to Munich Germany. Soon her mother and her were on a plane to Munich on British Airways to look at apartments. They ended up picking an apartment on the 6th floor of the building that she did not personally like and the next week they were on another flight to Munich.
Evelyn Ondo: She looked at her mom. “Why?” she asked simply. Her mother looked at her with a devious smile. She cackled loudly. All eyes on the plane went to her. Then all the faces of the attendants and passengers started to simultaneously melt off. They revealed demonic faces with unrealistically large grins. She screamed loudly. She ran to the front pushing the demonas ( that’s what she decided they were ) off the plane. She smashed the glass, grabbed all the parachutes, so they couldn’t catch her, and jumped. Close to the ground she pulled the string and revealed the parachute. She glided down to a beach. Oh no, she was somewhere along the coast of europe. She tried to remember her geography classes, but then she saw the Demonas flying full speed at her. “I just have to dodge them.” she thought, but once they hit the ground they looked up at her, started crawling at her, and pounced. Then, she was surprised, They were, tickling her?! That was how her mom used to wake her up she thought and then the dream dissolved. She was waking Up, it was all a dream.
Luke Hawes: By the time she woke up it was time for dinner and they would be landing in an hour. When they landed at Munich International Airport (MUC) it was late and an hour drive to their new apartment so they stayed at the airport hotel. The next morning after a good Hampton breakfast. They started off on the drive to their apartment and over the next few days, settled in. Now back to the present day activities. When they got back from shopping she plopped down on her sleeping bag. You see since they were moving across an ocean they had to get their stuff shipped on a boat and the stuff had not arrived yet (her mom was mad). She slept well that night, but when her mom woke her up the next morning she had many butterflies in her stomach. Her mother had a large cone sitting at the table and when she asked what it was her mother told her that it is a German Tradition to give a child or kinder a cone full of candy and school supplies. That cone and a breakfast made her feel better. But the bus was another thing in Germany they didn’t have school busses like in san francisco they used the public bus. So, of course she was worried because she had never ridden a public bus and it seems complicated with the cards that the school gave out. While she was on the bus she was startled when a girl who looked about her age and it turned out they went to the same school. She was named Rosie and she was Luanes first new friend in Germany. Thankfully she spoke english because she had come from New York the year before so they were both happy to have someone who spoke english. When she got to school she was so confused because everything was in German. She actually got in trouble because she went to her classroom before going to her locker because she couldn’t read the signs that said what they were supposed to do in the morning. Which got her sent to the principal's office where she couldn’t understand anything that he was saying. She also thought that her schedule was messed up.
She didn’t know what Kunst in deutscher Sprache was and she was missing English from her schedule. She struggled through the morning and when lunch came she accidentally ended up with a 4 course meal when she wanted grilled cheese. When she got home she poured out her feelings to her mom and her mom called the principal.
